Dog Walking in and around Leicester
Dogs require a good amount of exercise each day but life doesn't always allow us the time to do this There's many reasons that owners may not be able to walk their dogs as regularly as needed like work or ability. That's where dog walkers come in. Come rain or shine, Town paws will help in providing that extra exercise your pup needs.
As a trainer, I can also help with some issues during the walk. Things like pulling on the lead, anxiety and reactiveness can all be worked on while out and about.
Pricing will depend on the length and frequency of the walks and discounts will apply for multiple dogs or booking multiple walks per week. For example, A standard 1 hour walk for 1 dog 3 or more times a week will be £15 per walk.

Pre-Service Meeting
An initial free meet and greet will be done before the first walk to discuss your needs, how the dog walking will work and to get to know each other. This is when all the necessary forms and paper work will be filled out and for me to show off any qualifications or DBS checks you would like to see.
When will dogs be walked?
The Group walks will normally take place between 11am and 3pm for those wanting their dogs taken out while they are at work. For anyone wanting/needing a single walk, the timing can be more flexible to suit your individual needs.
Where will dogs be walked?
The location of each walk will be pick based on the dogs. A nice stroll in the park for the elderly dog who just wants to take it easy. A highly stimulating hike through woodland and different terrains for the energetic adolescent. Walks will be done in different locations and routes when possible to ensure stimulation for the dogs. The sort of walks that your dog would like to go on will be discussed in the initial meeting.
Safety
Your dogs safety is a priority which is why a good sized investment as gone into it. On top of the full insurance and doggy first aid, some of the precautions taken are detailed below.
-Transportation
The main safety future of the car are the dividers to keep dogs contained and safe during transport. The car is also fitted with a dash cam and internal cam, a portable air conditioning unit that can run independently of the car being turned on, tinted windows, and sunshades to keep the car from over heating. Regardless of these precautions around heat, no dog will be left in the car on a dangerously hot day. The car is also regularly disinfected to prevent the spread of doggy diseases.
-Walking
Before letting any dog off the lead, their recall and response to my commands will be assessed. Only when the dogs recall has been assessed to be 100% and permission has been gained from you will the dog be allowed off the lead. This is something I am qualified to work on as a trainer and I have a long training lead for this purpose.
-Pre service checks
Part of the pre service visit will be to check that your dog is going to be safe around other dogs. This will include checking for any signs or aggression, making sure they are not in season and vaccinations are up to date. Any dog that is deemed unsuitable for group walks will be offered one to one walks.
Other things that will be check include the dogs ID chip and Tag, which vet your dog is registered with and their emergency number, the age and ability of your dog, and any known health conditions including allergies.
-Extreme weather
during the summer, heat waves can pose a significant threat to a dogs health as can storms in winter. In the event the weather does make it unsafe to walk your dog, walks may be moved to a different time of day when its cooler for those who don't need their dog taken out at a certain time. For those that need their dog taken out during the day (E.g. because they are at work) your dog will still be let out for a toilet break, water bowls filled, food given and cooling mats can be replenished as well as any other instructions left for leaving the dog alone.
